Every Salt Legacy product begins and ends in our small workshop in Victoria, BC.
With a team that’s usually fewer than three people, every bag is carefully handcrafted from reclaimed sailcloth—cut, sewn, and finished one at a time.
Before a sail ever reaches our sewing tables, it’s cleaned, inspected, and its story is documented whenever possible. We learn where it sailed, the type of sail, the sailboat it belonged to, and the skipper who helped write its history. Every mark, repair, and weathered panel becomes part of a new adventure.

We take our time because every sail is different, and every finished piece is one of a kind. There are no shortcuts—just thoughtful craftsmanship, quality materials, and a deep respect for the stories each sail carries.
When you choose Salt Legacy, you’re supporting a small Canadian workshop dedicated to preserving maritime history, reducing waste, and creating products built to last.

Proud to Work with Canadian Companies
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working with incredible Canadian businesses, sailing organizations, and adventure companies, helping preserve their history through custom products made from their retired sails.
One partnership we’re especially proud of is with Maple Leaf Adventures.
To celebrate their 40 years of unforgettable adventures exploring the rugged coastlines of British Columbia and Alaska, we created a custom collection of handcrafted products from retired sails.
But that’s only part of the story…
Maple Leaf Adventures’ iconic mainsail has officially been retired.
Rather than letting such an important piece of Canadian maritime history fade away, we’ve been entrusted with giving it a remarkable second life.
We’re busy transforming this legendary sail into a very special collection, and we can’t wait to share more with you in the months ahead.
