It was well past midnight when Captain Reuben’s received an urgent distress call. A vessel had become flooded and stranded on the high tide line at Kelsey Bay – one of the most remote areas in his service territory. With the tide already beginning to recede, every minute counted before the boat would be left high and dry, potentially causing catastrophic hull damage.

Captain Reuben fired up his 32-foot Zodiac Hurricane and began the long journey through the darkness of the BC coastal waters. Navigating by instruments and years of local knowledge, he pushed his twin Yamaha 300s through the night, covering the considerable distance to reach the stranded boater.

Upon arrival, he found the flooded vessel precariously positioned on the tide line. Working quickly in the darkness, Captain Reuben deployed his 600 feet of towline and carefully maneuvered to extract the boat before the receding tide could cause further damage. The technical rescue required precise positioning and expert seamanship to avoid additional hull stress while removing water and securing the tow.

After hours of meticulous work in challenging conditions, Captain Reuben successfully pulled the vessel to safety. By dawn, the grateful owner was reunited with his boat – back on its trailer with minimal damage, thanks to one captain’s willingness to answer the call in the middle of the night.
